Roja Biography
Roja is a veteran south Indian actress and politician. She entered the cine industry from Telugu films. She was first introduced in the Tamil film by director R.K. Selvamani in his film Chembaruthi paired with actor Prashanth. The movie was a blockbuster and paved the way for her in Tamil cine industry. Her appeal was universal. She had acted with almost all the top actors and directors in the industry.
Roja got her career breakthrouh in the film Unnidathil Ennai Koduthen directed by Vikraman. She performed very well in this film in a character role. She has even acted for a solo song performance in few movies without reservations. She has been awarded for her performances by magazines, organisations for roles in films in Tamil and Telugu.
Personal life
She is married to director R.K. Selvamani and has moved into Andhra politics. Roja is well known for her outgoing nature. She has befriended her co-stars like Meena, Rambha, Devayani, Sithara and Kushbhu. During a film shoot for a Kannada movie, Premotsava back in 2001, Roja vounteered to do make-up and hair dressing for her fellow star Devayani for about 3 days when the movie was shot in a remote location beyond Mysore.Actress Meena in an interview in Vijay TV program "Coffee with Anu" admired Roja for her sisterly affection and wanted to act as her younger sister in a movie or TV serial, as they both look alike.
Early life
Roja was born to Kumaraswamy Reddy, a native of Chittor district. Later the family moved to Hyderabad. She did her Masters degree in Political Science from Nagarjuna University. She learnt Kuchipudi, a dance form, for a few years. Her voice as a child was rough, so many[who?] discouraged her from hoping to act in films.

She became popular acting in films with actors such as Rajnikanth in Veera, and Arjun Sarja in Ayudha Poojai. Roja's career breakthrough was in the film Unnidathil Ennai Koduthen, directed by Vikraman. Roja's 100th movie was Pottu Amman. Roja appeared in supporting roles in Arasu (2001) and in Parijaatham (2006).
